Earth Day 2023 is just three weeks away and we are getting ready to take bold action to End the Era of Fossil Fuels. This year we are partnering with more than three dozen local and national organizations to create a mass mobilization to challenge the fossil fuel industry and transition to a clean energy future.

Here’s the plan.

12 noon – Youth-led rally in Freedom Plaza

This year’s Earth Day mobilization will kick off at 12 noon on April 22 with a youth-led (but all ages included!) rally in Freedom Plaza. This one-hour rally will feature voices of young people from around DC and across the country, front line leaders fighting the worst impacts of climate change, and music from the Too Much Talent Band.

1pm – March to the White House

At 1pm we’re taking to the streets and marching (or rolling) to the White House to demand that President Biden take bold action to follow through with his promises to End the Era of Fossil Fuels! The full march is about 1 mile and we will be stopping to make some noise and hold a brief program on Pennsylvania Ave. in front of the White House.

3pm – Earth Day Organizing Fair

This year’s Earth Day mobilization will be a powerful moment, but we know that our work can’t end there. Join us for an organizing fair in Freedom Plaza from 3-5pm on April 22nd to get connected and make plans to continue the work going forward. Organizational partners are making plans to hold climate cafes, participatory art projects, teach-ins, dance parties, and other activities. No matter how you want to get involved, there will be something for you!

Help us make it happen!

Want to help make this powerful mobilization happen? Join us for an open organizing call on Wednesday, April 12 at 6pm eastern. On this call we'll preview plans for the day, share important organizing updates and let you know how you can get involved! This call is open to anybody who wants to make the Earth Day 2023 mobilization a success! Click here to register for the call and get your dial in information

Volunteer to help out on Earth Day or in the lead up to the mobilization. Fill out the “Get Involved” form online to let us know how you want to plug in.

Save the Date for a massive Art Build the weekend of April 15-16. We’ll be working together to make beautiful art that embodies the world we want to live in. And because we are trying to model the world we want to live in, we’ll be using mostly reclaimed and recycled scrap materials, so please hold on to any cardboard boxes, unused paints, plastic buckets and other items headed for the landfill or recycling centers that we can make beautiful. The artbuild will be on April 15th and 16th in Takoma Park. See all event details and RSVP to let us know you'll be there on

Donate! This mobilization is being funded almost entirely by small donations from supporters like YOU! While we’re doing this on a shoestring budget with a massive team of volunteers, there are some costs we can’t avoid like renting porta-potties, printing biodegradable posters to wheat paste around town, securing solar powered generators to run our stage, and making sure we have tents for shade and coolers full of cold water to refill your water bottles. Spread the word! We are already seeing a huge outpouring of interest in this mobilization, but to create the change we need, we need everyone! Spread the word on Twitter, Facebook, TikTok, Instagram, BeReal, and MySpace (ha)! The best posts are ones where you explain in your own words  why you’re participating, so please take a minute to do that. But if you need graphics, we’ve got you covered! For bonus points, click “Going” on the Facebook event and invite your friends.

Thank you all for everything you’re doing to make this mobilization a success! See you in the streets!
